The Middle Way - poem
a growing list
between porridge too hot, and too cold
a bed too large, and too small
a drink too little, and a drink too much
between dependency and independence
between living as a householder or as a monk
between not exercising and exercising
between dessert and longevity
between being together
and being alone
like a pilot flying a plane
we watch our instruments
we adjust our pitch, our yaw,
our direction, our attitude
we choose that which
is skillful to keep
flying well
